The Staff Advisory Committee to the Dean would like to invite all staff in the College to the spring College-wide staff meeting with the Dean. The meeting will be held on Monday April 28th in 101 ASI. There will be a social and refreshments in the lobby of ASI at 9:30 a.m. During this time, a 3-D architectural model of the East subcampus (Lot 80) area will be on display in the ASI lobby. We hope that this model will give everyone a better idea of what the area surrounding ASI and Henning will look like when the construction projects are finished. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with the 2nd annual presentation of the Staff Laureate Awards followed by Dean Steele’s address to the College staff. There will also be presentations by representatives from University Transportation, Physical Plant Project Management, and Campus Planning and Design on the upcoming construction projects. The committee is excited about the agenda for this meeting. Many, if not all, staff in the College will be directly or indirectly impacted by these construction projects, so the Committee feels that there will be information presented that is of interest to everyone.
In our recent meeting with the Dean, Dr. Steele indicated that the first group of dossiers for the ACTS program had been submitted for review and are currently being evaluated by the review committee. Decisions are expected soon. The College’s involvement in this pilot program is being looked at on the university level because, if successful, this program may be instituted University-wide.
The SACD website will soon have a new look. A SACD subcommittee is currently working to update and ‘refresh’ the site. We hope to have our College-wide meeting survey on our web site and ready to go by the April 28th College-wide staff meeting. Watch for details on these changes.
As summer approaches, several units will soon be electing new SACD representatives. If your representative’s term will be expiring, please consider serving on this worthwhile committee. The College of Ag Sciences is one of the few colleges in the university with a staff committee that openly discusses issues with the Dean. We continue to need people who are willing to serve on this committee.
At any time, if you have a concern or question that you feel needs to be addressed by the SACD, please contact us via our web site http://sacd.cas.psu.edu/, by email as a committee (sacd@lists.cas.psu.edu) or individually. Hope to see you on April 28th.
